The   Gwaelod-y-Garth   Inn   (or   just   the   Gwaelod   as   the   locals   call   us)   is   one   of   South   Wales’   Premier Country   Inns   just   a   few   miles   outside   Cardiff,   offering   a   relaxing   mix   of   Real   Ales,   Home   Cooked   Food   and convivial company. Since Richie and Barbara took over the premises, it has re-established its rightful place in   the   heart   of   the   community.   The   pub   now   also   has   an   on-site   brewery   -   Violet   Cottage   Brewery   or   “The Brew   with   a   View”   is   brewing   a   selection   of   beers   which   are   proving   extremely   popular   Whether   you   are looking   for   somewhere   for   a   quick   pint   after   work,   a   quiet   meal   or   a   family   celebration,   we’re   sure   you that you will find it here. Both the pub and restaurant are furnished to a high specification.
Meaning   'foot   of   the   mountain'   (Gwaelod-y-Garth),   the   Gwaelod   Inn   was   originally   part   of   the   Marquess   of Bute's   estate.   Every   window   of   this   welcoming   pub   offers   exceptional   views   -   the   pub   was   recently nominated   as   having   the   second   best   pub   views   in   the   country   by   the   Guardian   Magazine   and   has   recently been   awarded   numerous   awards   from   CAMRA.   It   is   a   much   favoured   watering   hole   for   ramblers,   cyclists and   hang-gliders   as   well   as   some   colourful   locals.   The   Gwaelod-y-Garth   Inn   is   situated   on   the   Taff-Ely Ridgeway Path

GWAELOD INN 4 STAR BED AND BREAKFAST ROOMS We   were   really   excited   to   receive   4   stars   from   Visit   Wales   when   we   developed   our   3   bedrooms.   As   a   small family   business   we   pride   ourselves   on   our   hospitality   and   our   commitment   to   providing   our   customers with   high   quality   accommodation   and   an   excellent   breakfast.   We   enjoy   a   very   high   number   of   visitors   who return regularly.
The   Gwaelod   Inn   is   the   perfect   retreat   from   the   city   yet   with   easy   access   to   road   and   rail   links   which make   it   perfect   for   business   or   leisure.   Nestling   cosily   into   the   Garth   Mountain,   the   Inn   is   surrounded   by views   of   the   forest,   the   Garth   and   the   Taff   Valley.   It   is   an   ideal   base   for   walking,   mountain   biking, sightseeing   and   a   delightful   alternative   base   if   you   are   working   away   from   home.   We   keep   a   small   library of books about the area and walks in our cosy bar. Our   rooms   have   a   separate   entrance   to   the   Inn,   and   it   is   just   a   couple   of   metres   to   the   restaurant   access where   you   will   be   served   breakfast.   There   is   parking   available.   We   are   known   for   our   excellent   food   and have   recently   been   awarded   "highly   acclaimed"   by   the   South   Wales   Echo;   why   not   take   the   opportunity   to join us for lunch or dinner?
All   of   our   rooms   provide   a   warm   and   relaxing   environment.   They   all   have   a   32   inch   flat   screen   tv,   free broadband,   tea   and   coffee   making   facilities,   fridge   with   fresh   milk   and   Tynant   mineral   water,   storage   with iron   and   ironing   board,   hairdryer,   telephone   and   radio   alarm.      Much   of   the   furniture   is   handcrafted   locally and   the   artwork   is   by   local   artists.   Excellent   quality   mattresses   and   sumptuous   bedding   add   to   the   comfort factor.

The    Gwaelod    Inn    has    an    active    event calender - bands play on some Fridays and Saturdays,    a    knitting    club    on    mondays. MacMillan   Coffee   mornings   are   held   and an annual “Bake Off”.
Rob organised the first Gwaelod bake off in 2013 The pub helped to host the jubilee party Gwaelod ladies joined in with Movember! The inaugaral Sausage and Cider festival had a special guest! Halloween Party 2014
